Hell With The Lid Off

The American Lung Association has named Pittsburgh as the most polluted by short-term particle pollution for the second year in a row. The bad news doesn't stop there in the ALA's "State of the Air" report. When it comes to air quality, the association gives Allegheny County an "F."

Spring Heat Wave

Went for a hike in Ohiopyle for the first time yesterday during my three weekend of decompressing from the Spring semester. The temperature was in the 80s but it was still too cold to get in the water. We plan on renting a house later in the summer and staying there over night for a weekend retreat. Until then...

The Best Worst Movie Ever?

Finally had the pleasure of seeing Troll 2 last night with my roommates. I put it right up there with some of my other favorite bizarre "trash-flicks" (i.e. The Garbage Pail Kids Movie and The Peanut Butter Solution). A documentary directed by the child actor (below) who starred in the movie recently premiered about his experiences with the cult-phenomenon that followed. Need to add that one to mah queue.

Chip Coffey: My Hero

My friends and I often find ourselves watching the always silly, never scary Paranormal State on lazy evenings. Whenever the physic/medium Chip Coffey makes a cameo, we know we're in for a special treat. The episode we watched last night was by far the most over-top we've seen!

Below is a "Coffey Clip " from the episode we watched last night where ol' Chippy performs a Ganzfeld experiment!

This is Where I Grew Up

In Cameron County, where the wildlife rivals the human population in numbers, good jobs are hard to come by. Some of the best jobs began to vanish as the county's powdered metals industry, which relies on the auto market for customers, hit the skids. Dennis Roddy spent two days chronicling what life is like in a seemingly perfect place when the jobs disappear.
