subtitles are so passé

I feel like this blog is turning more into a movie review site than a blog about my life however movies having been consuming my free time lately since it's to damn cold to go outside and do stuff. I recently saw two excellent films of the foreign persuasion. First off, Persepolis, a French animated, coming of age tale about a feisty Iranian girl. Doesn't sound like my cup of tea...but in fact I loved it. The story is extremely engaging, the black and white animation is unique and very effective at conveying emotion, and the main character, Marjane, is one complicated, badass Iranian chick. I also ended up seeing The Orphanage after finding out Cloverfield was sold out. The Orphanage is a solid movie that I'm happy I was able to check out. More creepy than scary, The Orphanage is another beautifully shoot Spanish import. Also the other night I ripped up the dance floor at 80's night in Lawrenceville. In honor of that night here's some of my favorite 80's tracks. (coincidently they are all featured in Donnie Darko)
Joy Division- Love Will Tear Us Apart
Tears for Fears- Head Over Heels
The Church- Under the Milky Way Tonight
Echo & The Bunnymen- The Killing Moon
